Bram Stoker, author of Dracula, had never visited Romania. He depicted the imaginary Dracula’s castle based upon a description of Bran Castle. In June 2009, the refurbished castle was opened to the public as the first private museum of the country. Narrow winding stairways lead through some 60 timbered rooms, many connected by underground passages, which house collections of furniture, weapons and armor dating from the 14th to the 19th centuries.
This place should be on any Dracula fans bucket list as a place to see.
